She’s been there herself, scraping by, wondering how to make it work in a place she loves. That experience gives her a unique perspective. Salty doesn’t just talk about housing policy; she’s lived it. She knows the struggle isn’t just numbers or zoning maps—it’s people. And she’s made it her mission to fight for them.

In 2022, Salty’s work earned her Volunteer of the Year from The Mountain Mail and the Chaffee County Community Foundation.

 

She’s been nominated every year since because her impact is impossible to ignore. Whether it’s advocating for rental subsidies, rezoning Salida’s Future Land Use Map, or championing projects like Artspace and Places to Age, Salty gets things done.

When the Safe Outdoor Space launched, it wasn’t just about shelter. It was about giving workers a voice. Over 100 people showed up to public meetings to speak their truth because Salty made sure they had a seat at the table.

​

Salty doesn’t sugarcoat things. She cuts through bureaucracy and tells it like it is. That honesty, paired with her knack for doing the homework, has made her the go-to person for complex issues like short-term rental taxes and state-level funding initiatives like Prop 123 and SB23-213.

​

But Salty’s not just about policy. She’s about people. She’s the bridge between the workforce and the decision-makers, the person who makes sure the voices of this community aren’t lost in the shuffle. She’s here to fight for Salida because this is her home—and she’s betting it’s yours too.
